Tender Writing Success in 10 easy STEPS
Tender writing consultants Naomi Clews Consultancy share our top 10 tender writing tips, to help you be more successful when writing tenders.
#1 Allow plenty of time
An initial, quick flick through the tender documents will determine how complex the tender is and how much time you and your bid team will require to write a tender response. You may at this point identify that you need the additional support of a tender writer.
#2 Check deadlines
As a minimum, the tender will provide a tender submission date. Works backwards from this date to ensure you have enough time and resources to hit the deadlines. If you do not, you could consider hiring a Freelance Bid Writer to help you.
#3 Selection criteria
The tender requires bidder to demonstrate eligibility to supply to government. You can find out more about tender eligibility criteria here.
Identify your bid team and allocate tender questions to the appropriate team member along with a copy of the project plan.
#5 Managing word counts
Write concise and clear tender responses within the word limits provided. Remember to include all supporting evidence (required by the tender questions) as attachments, if allowed.
Check your calculations and sums add up, use the pricing format provided but consider a variant bid, if this is allowed.
Are your referees still relevant? Are their contact details up to date?
#8 Proof Reading
Check for grammar and spelling mistakes but more importantly, check that your response answers the question being asked.
Sign, date and return all the required tender declarations.
#10 Submit your tender bid on time
All your hard work will be wasted if you miss the tender submission deadline.
